Rintarosseja

Inspiroiduin Visualistin nappikoruista ja liimata päräytin itellekki parit kukkaset. Valkonen on lemppari, vihreä ehkä liian iso. Napit on mummolta perittyjä.

I was inspired by button brooches made by Visualisti and made a few for myself too. The white is my favourite, green might be too big. The buttons I inherited from my granny.

Pienenä olin muuten sen verran ihastunut kaikenlaisiin rintarosseihin, että laitoin yleensä kaikki (n. 10-20 kpl) kerralla puseroon kiinni. Silleen ilosesti sekasin pitkin paidan etumusta. Nykyään käytän näitä hieman hillitymmin.

When I was little I liked brooches so much that I used all of them (10-20 pieces) at the same time. Scattered around the front of my shirt. Nowadays I'm much more restrained brooch-wearer.

Muutin ulkoasua vähän kesäisemmäksi, joten haamupäivityksiä voi ilmaantua.

Raitapaita

Ja sitten ois vielä yks villapaita, joka valmistui toukokuussa. Just silleen sopivasti, että pääsi kaappiin odottelemaan syksyä. Tämä villis on osa minun missiota saada lankavarastoa pienemmäksi. Suunnittelin upottavani kaikki vihreät FLoricat tähän, mutta jäi niitä vielä muutama keränen.

And then we have one more sweater...this one I finished in May. Just in time to be put aside for fall.

This sweater is part of my mission of diminishing my stash. I planned to use all my green Florica-yarn on this, but I still have few skeins left.

Malli/Pattern: EPS

Lanka/Yarn: Novita Florica, 400g+stripes

Puikot/Needles: 2,5 & 3 mm (US 1.5 & 2.5)

Mulla ei ole mitään hajua menikö nuo raglan-kavennukset ihan fiksusti ja hienosti, mutta lopputulos on ihan ok. Ei kiristä tai purista mistään. Pääntietä muotoilin lyhennetyillä kerroksilla ja neki meni vähän arvaamalla ja soveltamalla, ku en muista ikinä niitä tehneeni puseroon. Poolokauluksen tein siksi, että mulla ei oo yhtään poolopuseroa ja aattelin että semmonen ois kiva. Nyt en oo enää niin varma, mutta purkamaan en varmasti ala.

Soveltamisesta huolimatta tästä tuli mukavan istuva pusero. Eniten tykkään hihoista, kun ne on pitkät ja kapeat. Raidat arvelutti alussa, mutta neki on ok.

I have no idea if the raglan decreases are correctly placed, but the result is ok. I shaped the neckline with short rows and did those also by guessing, because I don't remember using short rows ever on a sweater. The turtleneck is there because I don't have a sweater with turtleneck and thought it would be nice. Now I'm not that sure anymore.

Despite all the guessing while knitting I think this turned out great. I especially like the long and narrow sleeves. And the stripes are also ok even though I doubted them in the beginning.

Wisteria

Jatketaan vanhojen tekeleiden esittelyä. Tämän villapaidan aloitin tammikuussa ja päättelin helmikuussa.

Malli/Pattern: Wisteria by Kate Gilbert
Lanka/Yarn: Cascade 220 Heathers, 600g
Puikot/Needles: 5 mm (US 8)



Lisäsin vyötärölle yhden kavennuskerroksen lisää, mutta silti lopputulos on vähän "baggy". Nuo palmikot on kuitenki sen verran herkut, että ei haittaa.

Kauluksesta tein saman mittaisen kuin ohjeessa, vaikka ensin vähän epäilin, että siitä tulee joko töpö tai sitten liian korkea. Lopputulos on jotain siltä väliltä...ei ehkä paras korkeus minun kaulalle, mutta käytössä hyvä.

I added one more increase round to the body, but the sweater is still a bit baggy. It doesn't really matter, because I'm head over heels in love with those cables.

I made the collar just like in the pattern even though I was affraid that it would turn out to bee too low or too high. The result is something in between...not the most suitable height for my neck but nice to wear.



Lanka oli mulle uus tuttavuus (mainostan sen verran, että tilasin Secret Woolista), mutta todennäköisesti tulen käyttämään tätä jatkossakin. Mukava peruslanka, jossa on paljon värejä ja tweediäkin saatavilla. Ja vaivaton neuloa.

This was my first time using Cascade yarns and I think it won't be the last. The color chart of Cascade 220 is so yummy (and there's also tweed yarn).

Softy

En tiiä miten tässä näin kävi, mutta hoksasin että mulla on vaatekaapissa paljon pidetty neuletakki, joka on valmistunut tammikuussa ja josta en ole blogannut. Valon vähäisyydellä on ehkä ollut jotain tekemistä asian kanssa.

I don't know how this happened, but I have a cardigan in my wardrobe that I've worn a lot and haven't blogged about at all. And I finished it in January. I think the lack of light must have had something to do with it.



Malli/Pattern: Drops
Lanka/Yarn: Garnstudio Alpaca (250g, color 601) & Garnstudio Cotton Viscose (350g, color 23)
Puikot/Needles: 5 mm (US 8)

Alpakan ja puuvilla-viskoosin yhdistelmä on aika ihku. Pehmeä, liukas ja laskeutuva. Käytössä lämmin. Ainoa huono puoli on, että jo muutaman käyttökerran jälkeen kainaloissa ja kyljissä oli vähän nukkaantumista havaittavissa.

The combination of alpaca and cotton-viscose is heavenly. Soft and drapey. Warm. Only bad thing is that after few wears there was some piling in the armpits and sides.



Ohjeeseen en tehnyt juurikaan muutoksia, mutta pidensin hihoja ja persevänä ihmisenä aloitin takin yhtä kokoa isompana ja kavensin sitten vyötärölle.

I didn't make much changes to the pattern, just lengthened the sleeves and as a person with a butt, I started the body one size larger and then decreased it to the normal size.

Ompeluharjoituksia

Kokeilin vähäsen ompelua. Tuloksena ihan käyttökelponen takki, joka pääsi naapurimaassaki käymään:

I tried sewing a little bit. The result is a wearable coat, which got a chance to visit a neighbouring country with me:

Kaavat otin jostain vanhasta Modasta vartaloon ja hihoihin. Hupun kaavan kopsasin R-Colletionin maiharista. Vähän tuntuu siltä, että takki olis yläosasta hitusen liian iso, mutta en ole ihan varma. Pitäis testata asiaa sovitusnuken päällä (mulle ois vähän niinku tarjottu semmosta synttärilahjaksi...tuskin kieltäydyn).

The pattern is from some old Moda-magazine (for the body and sleeves). The hood pattern I copied from a coat by R-Collection. I think it might a little bit big on the upper part, but I'm not sure. I think I should test it on a dress form (I've bee promised one for birthday present...I don't think I'll say no to that).

Tarkoituksena oli ommella vetskarin päälle joku läppäsysteemi, mutta kangas ei ollut kovin yhteistyöhaluinen, joten se jäi sikseen. Helman ompelukaan ei ollut ihan läpihuutojuttu, koska hengarissa takki vääntyili miten sattuu ja helman kääntäminen samalla kun takki on päällä oli vähän vaikiaa. Mutta on se ehkä melkein suora. Toinen sivusaumakin on sisältä vielä auki siltä varalta, että haluan ottaa jostain sisään...tai sitten olen vaan laiska.

I planned to sew a flap to cover the zipper but the fabric didn't want to cooperate. Also sewing the hem was just pain in the ass. On a hanger the coat was twisting and turning and folding the hem while wearing the coat was a bit tricky. But I think it's almost straight. Also the other side seam is still open on the inside just in case I want to take in from some place...or I'm just lazy to sew it...

Kangas on mummon perintöä. Sitä oli hieman vajaat 2,5 metriä, joka riitti takkiin justiinsa. Taskut olisin vielä saanut, mutta en jaksanu. Vuorikangas löyty Eurokankaasta (muualla myytiin eioota tai mustaa vuorikangasta). Se on semmosta, jossa on valmiiksi ohut vanu mukana.

The fabric was inherited from my grandma. There was about 2.5 metres of it and I used it all. I could have made pockets, but didn't feel like it. The lining is from Eurokangas.

Olen ihan luvattoman tyytyväinen itseeni. Takki on ollut kovassa käytössä, koska se on ainoa tälle kelille sopiva ja koska se toimi ikäänkuin harjottelukappaleena, niin olen sitten yrittäny testata sitä vaihtelevissa olosuhteissa. Toimiva peli. Seuraavaan versioon on jo kangas ostettuna ja tavoitteena on tehdä sellanen lipare tuohon vetskarin päälle niinku Vilmalla. En vaan oo jaksanu vielä ajatella miten se olis helpoin toteuttaa. Eli tekiskö erillisen lipareen vai olisko se lipare osa etukappaletta ja mihin väliin sen vetoketjun tyrkkäis ja pitäiskö vetoketjullekki olla oma lipare. Vinkkejä otetaan vastaan, myös valmiista kaavoista ja ohjeista.

I'm really proud of myself. I've been wearing the coat a lot, because it's the only one that is suitable for the current weather and because it was kind of a practice coat for me, so I've been wearing it in varying conditions. Works for me. I've already bought the fabric for the next coat. My goal is to make it as nice as Vilma's coat.

Jatkanut lankavaraston tuhoamista neulomalla Prahasta ostetusta Marlen-nauhalangasta 1o1n-huivin. Puikot oli ehkä 5 tai 6.

Continued destroying my stash by knitting a scarf. Yarn was bought from Prague (Marlen or something it was called) and the needles were maybe 5 or 6 mm.

Selityksen makua...

Järkyttävän huonojen valaistusolosuhteiden (yritän todistaa tämän alla olevan kuvan avulla) ja yleisen laiskuuden takia ei ole napannu päivitellä pätkääkään. Kuvausta oottais villapaita, villatakki ja testaustakki (ommeltu). Kaikkia on pidetty jo päälläkin useampaan kertaan. Ehkäpä tässä joku päivä saan ne arkistoitua tänne.

Due to extremely bad lighting conditions (I'm trying to prove this with the photo below) and general laziness, I haven't had the motivation to blog at all. I do have a sweater, cardigan and a test coat (sewn) ready for photos. And I've worn them all many times. Maybe someday I'll get myself inspired to file them here.



Puikoilla on tällä hetkellä parit huovutetut tossut häälahjaksi kummitädille. Sen lisäksi kesken on yök-valkonen (villatakki), joka on osa lankavarastontuhoamisprojektia. Laskin, että kaapeista löytyis langat ehkä noin kuuteen paitaan/takkiin, yhteen/kahteen pitsihuiviin, pariin kaulaliinaan ja useampiin villasukkiin + nöttöset päälle. Luulis, että tuolla varastolla pärjäis tämän vuoden loppuun... Kovasti ainaki yritän (lahjoja varten tarvittavia lankoja ei lasketa).

At the moment I have two pairs of felted slippers on the needles. They are going to be a wedding gift to my godmother. Then there's also an ugh-white (a cardigan), which is part of my "destroy your stash" project. I checked that I have yarn for about 6 sweaters, one/two lace scarves, couple of "ordinary" scarves, several socks and then some more. I think that I should get along with that till the end of this year. At least I'm trying really hard (buying yarn for gifts is allowed).

Projekti on jo ihan hyvässä vauhdissa. Valmiina ois baskeri (menee joululahjapinoon, koska väri ei passaa mulle) ja lapaset jämälangoista (yllä). Tässä samalla sitten pyydän kiinnittämään huomiota sanaan "joululahjapinoon". Alotin tänä vuonna hyvissä ajoin *taputtaa itseään selkään*.

My project is progressing pretty well. I already have finished a beret (to the Christmas present pile, because the color isn't me) and mittens out of leftovers (above). And I would like to draw you attention to the word "Christmas present pile". I think I have started early enough this year *patting myself on the back*.

Honeycomb

Löysin muutama vuosi sitten jostain syrjäkylältä Novitan Merino Woolia ruskeana. Kaikki 11 kerää lähtivät mukaan ja olen niitä hautonut odottaen täydellistä mallia. Sellasta ei ole vielä tullut vastaan, mutta halusin sliparin ja päätin uhrata merinovillat siihen (ihanku olisivat viimiset merinot maailmassa).

Couple of years ago I found brown Novita Merino Wool (discontinued yarn) from a small market in a small town. I bought all 11 skeins they had and have marinated them in my closet trying to find a perfect pattern for them. I haven't found any, but I wanted a slipover and decided to sacrifice my merinos for it (like they were the last merinos in the world).

Lanka/Yarn: Novita Merino Wool, 300g
Puikot/Needles: 3,5 mm



Lisäsin pituutta semmoset 7 senttiä ja säädin jotain muutakin. Tämä on yllättäen ehkä vähän isohko. Tai semmonen löysä. En edes uskaltanu pingottaa ettei venähtäis liikaa.

I added 7 cm length to the body and made some other modifications. It actually feels a bit big. Or baggy or something. I didn't even dare to block it because I didn't want it to stretch more.



Kiva tämä silti on ja olen jopa pitänyt töissä. Lämmin ja pehmonen.

I like this a lot though, and have worn it to work. Warm and soft.

Slippers

Palelevavarpaisena piti saada huovutetut tossut. Valmistuivat jo vuoden vaihteessa, mutta tein toisetki, jotka valmistu vasta viikko sitten, joten päätin pistää ne kimppaan.

My toes are cold all the time, so I needed felted slippers. They were finished in the end of 2008, but I made another pair few weeks ago and decided to pair them up.

Puikot/Needles: 5,5 mm

Toiset töppöset on miesten kokoa ja kuvassa näkyy miltä ne näyttävät viikon käytön jälkeen. Nukkaa ja nöyhtää vaikka muille jakaa. Ajelin omat tossuni nukanpoistajalla (pidin sitä ihan naurettavana vekottimena ennen tätä) ja tossut on pysyny kuosissa. Ei nypyn nyppyä. Näille tossuille pitää ilmeisesti tehdä sama käsittely.

This is how the slippers look after a week's use. Lots of fluff. I "shaved" my slippers with a pile remover (or something like that...I really thought it was the most ridiculous thing ever before I used it on these) and they are really neat now. I think I have to do the same for these too.



Töppöset on kivat...tosin varpaat palelee edelleen, vaikka lisälämmikkeenä olis vielä villasukatki. Mulla ei tuo lämmönsäätely aina ihan pelitä.
Näistä vois olla kiva tehdä semmoset pitempivartiset versiot, joihin vois laittaa pohjat suutarilla. Olis vähän niinku huopikkaat. Lankaa jäi ainaki sen verran yli, että vartta olis voinu tehdä pidemmäksi.

The slippers are great...yet my toes are still freezing even though I wear a pair of thick wool socks with them. My thermostat must be broken.
I think these could be really cool with a higher leg and some rubber soles. Like felted boots.
